Job description
- Define the product portfolio architecture (technical segmentation by application, functional value proposition, modular development roadmap) and the related competitive positioning for each labeling technology, in close alignment with Sales and key markets.
- Own and govern the end-to-end Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), from concept engineering to industrialization and field deployment, ensuring consistency with margin targets, cost structure, and product mix across a highly customized equipment portfolio.
- Develop robust, data-driven business cases for new machine platforms, options, and retrofit solutions, including CAPEX/OPEX analysis, ROI, payback, and technical-industrial risk assessment, with particular focus on installed base evolution.
- Design and execute technical Go-To-Market strategies, translating engineering capabilities into application-driven value propositions, supported by use cases, performance evidence, and technical documentation tailored to different industries (e.g. beverage, food, personal care).
- Establish and manage a structured market & technology intelligence framework, with continuous monitoring of:
- labeling technologies (self-adhesive, hot melt glue, roll-fed, sleeve)
- vision systems and traceability solutions
- regulatory developments and sustainability requirements
- competitor equipment architectures, performance benchmarks, and pricing models
- Define and implement engineering-based pricing models, leveraging detailed cost breakdowns (BOM, assembly, commissioning, lifecycle costs) and application complexity, ensuring margin control across product families, configurations, and geographies.
- Identify and drive the integration of advanced technologies (AI/ML, computer vision, predictive diagnostics) into both products and processes, enhancing machine performance, quality control, automation levels, and service capabilities (e.g. remote diagnostics, predictive maintenance).
- Interface with R&D to prioritize the development portfolio, translating market and customer requirements into clear technical specifications, while operating without direct hierarchical responsibility in a matrix organization.
- Coordinate with Operations and Service to ensure industrial readiness, installation efficiency, machine reliability, maintainability, and spare parts availability across a globally distributed installed base.
A successful Senior Innovation Manager - Packaging Machinery should have:
- Significant experience (8-12+ years) in Product Management / Innovation roles within the industrial machinery, packaging, or automation sectors.
- Proven track record in managing product portfolios and strategic roadmaps.
- Strong capability in developing business cases and Go-To-Market strategies.
- Solid understanding of industrial technologies (e.g. labeling, vision systems, automation, traceability).
- Familiarity with digital solutions and AI applications in industrial environments.
- Strong business and financial acumen, with focus on pricing and margin optimization.
- Excellent project management and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Fluency in English.
